The FDA Approves A New Drug For Diabetes Eye Disease

The Food and Drug Administration USA approved yesterday a new Drug Eylea to be used in Diabetic macular edema.

In diabetic macular edema new blood vessels emerge and break causing reduced vision and even blindness.

The drug is superior to laser surgery

A study was done in 679 patient of the disease some of the patients re ceived the drug and another group received laser therapy. the former group imporved significantly. .

The most common side effects include pain, catarct and infection. .
